Dementia Alliance International (DAI) is a registered non-profit 501 (c) (3) charity launched on January 1, 2014. Membership is free and is inclusively for people with a medically confirmed diagnosis of any type of a dementia from all around the world. DAI seeks to represent, support, and educate others living with the disease, and the wider dementia community, striving to provide a unified voice of strength, advocacy and support for our rights, individual autonomy and improved quality of life. Our vision is A world where all people are valued and included, with a philosophy of nothing about us, without all of us. People with dementia can sign up to become a member of DAI here. DAI is in a strategic partnership with Alzheimer’s Disease International and Dementia Australia.
Although DAI members ages range from 18 through to people in their 80’s, we know there are more people over the age of 65 with dementia than with young onset dementia. By joining with Step Up For Ageing Research in Australia, DAI supports their goals of advancing dementia and ageing research and aims to support Step Up For Ageing Research to ensure more older people diagnosed with dementia can participate in the co design of this type of research, as well as have opportunities to be research participants, collaborators, and researchers. The philosophy of nothing about us without all of us is critical to successful research outcomes, that are truly meaningful to everyone, including older people, and DAI is delighted to be an organisational champion to StepUp For Ageing Research.
